Quin Snyder won’t talk about his future or his contract

NBA – For his final speaking engagement of the season, the Jazz coach did not answer questions about his future. But he repeated that he loves being in Salt Lake City.

After undergoing hip surgery a week ago, Quin Snyder skipped his last press conference, or rather, it was postponed to a later date. Six days later, the Jazz coach honored his appointment.

As expected, the media was mostly interested in his future and the rumors around his name that circulate, especially in Los Angeles. But Quin Snyder cut to the chase on that topic.

“For starters, I want to say, and I’ve said this before but it’s worth saying again: my family loves it here,” he delivers for the Deseret News. “Whether it’s the school, the people, the city of Salt Lake, the experience has been and continues to be great. I’m privileged to coach this group of players and I remind myself of that constantly during the season. We’re not perfect, but I love our players. Beyond that, I think I will continue to not speak publicly about my contract situation. I don’t want to and I’m not comfortable doing that.”

Especially since then, the coach projected on his summer work to improve his team, still eliminated quickly in the playoffs, from the first round against Dallas.

“I’m going to look at the footage, I’m going to meet with Danny Ainge and Justin Zanik (the general manager and GM of the franchise), and I’ve already done that a little bit with the staff. We also want to give ourselves some breathing room to be as thorough as possible when we look at all of this.”

Since the 2016/17 season, the Jazz have settled in among the top teams in the West in the regular season, without ever turning the tables in the playoffs. Quin Snyder is aware of the prevailing frustration.

“We haven’t been good on defense,” he quickly analyzes this 2021/22 fiscal year. “And what transpires from all my answers is that nobody is satisfied. The fans aren’t either. We’ve reached a point where we want more. That’s the nature of the sport, it’s competition.”
